When I first became aware of Jacque Fresco and The Venus Project which was a little over a year ago I was stumped as to how such a visionary, architect and social pioneer could have slipped past my ever curious gaze across the land looking for others like myself who see the big picture over the last twenty years of my own ramblings until I remembered that my world was some what constrained to astronomy and the facilities where it is practiced. That was the platform I developed to speak about the need for a new field of human endeavor either in whole or in part that I began to call Planetary Development - Our Own using Lunar Colonization and Industrialization as a head liner in the process. But now back to Jacque, at first when I looked at the website www.TheVenusProject.com it took me by storm but I thought it had to be a somewhat recent piece of work maybe over the last ten years or so using the Internet very much like I do to espouse his ideas now that a medium now existed to do so at a relatively low cost. And then one day I was having problems logging in and out of a forum he had on his website where I then sent to his office an E-Mail discussing the problems I was having and this is where I had my first contact with Jacque's assistant as it turns out for thirty years now Roxanne Meadows where she apologized for the issue I had but this then started some direct discussions about The Venus Project and Jacque Fresco's life. To my astonishment I learned that he had been working on the project there in Venus Florida for some thirty years now.
At this point my curiosity got the better of me and since I live right up the road from them in Orlando, Florida I decided to pay Jacque and Roxanne a visit at The Venus Project which took a month or so to pull off. I arrived at The Venus Project with an associate Andrew Carrigan to be greeted warmly by both of them and found myself sitting in nothing more than that out of a seen of a futuristic movie with very comfortable surroundings by the way. We sat and we talked about things the world, economics, events and so on while Jacque demonstrated through the videos and models he and Roxanne had created just how we could craft both socially and physically a new world for ourselves that would function as what he called a Resource Based system. The fullness and depth he has applied to his work just blew me away. And, as we were led by him through their studios I could not help to think as to just why he and his vision were not being discussed and shown across the land by all the media outlets given the fact that we as a society do not seem to have any particular dreams for the future that we could link our greater economy to but then what he espouses is a Resource Based Economic System in the pure sense.
As the day went on Jacque and Roxanne proved to be most gracious and hospitable hosts sharing sandwiches, coffee and tea until sunset when I purchased the full package of videos about The Venus Project and also another called The Future by Design. Both Andrew and myself had a very nice time and both Jacque and Roxanne were most amicable answering any questions we had even as they escorted us back to the car and as we left I had a feeling I had not had in years like where I grew up in the country in Pennsylvania when an old family friend for example would come and see you off as they inherently exercised the highest values of social civility. This told me more about them in that one act than the previous day's discussions as a whole and if their vision is to create such a realm of planetary social civility than I say lets bring it on with no time to spare and all do haste.
And now to the point of this dialog
Since our visit to The Venus Project having looked over the material I acquired there plus other research and a few continued discussions with Roxanne Meadows I have learned that Jacque Fresco has been involved with his concepts now for well over sixty years. So what does this mean?
It means without a doubt forty five to fifty years before the actual term or profession of a new field of human endeavor called Planetary Development ever came about He Jacque Fresco to all accounts stands as the preeminent elder statesman of the field being the very first and longest practicing Planetary Developer in the World. I could be wrong here but to date I see no evidence that anyone else comes even close to fitting the bill on this. I mean in plain words "He's the Man".
Jacque Fresco may not have been seen as influential as he should have been like years ago in the time during his Larry King interviews back in 1974 but I assure you that this is going to change looking ahead into the future. History will show that right along side all of those considered to be the greats like Aristotle, Ptolemy, Socrates, Plato, Galileo, Newton, Kepler, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Einstein and many others along that pantheon of names can now be added without hesitation the name Jacque Fresco and in time the rest of the world will come to understand why I say this without hesitation.
As for Jacque's long standing assistant and partner Roxanne Meadows due to her intricate support and work along side Jacque she stands as a Planetary Developer in her own right thus like Jacque by all rights and passage into this new fledgling field of Planetary Development even though as we to some extent view things and come at things differently but that is the very point of the field itself. That people from very diverse backgrounds and fields can find rather than differences they can find common ground upon which to stand looking ahead to the future united as one.
